Engagement Overview
Over the decade-plus long engagement, Syntel has had a large share of the work outsourced to the six primary partners. These resources are at seven customer locations worldwide and at dedicated units of two of Syntel's Global Development Centers in India. These dedicated units adhere to the customer's security and information integrity requirements, including CCTV, access control.

Projects include mainframe, web (J2EE), mid-range (AS400), and data warehouse projects. Seventy percent of Syntel's work for this customer is application development on a turnkey or T&M basis. Other services include:

  • Ownership of end-to-end portfolios, including project management, business analysis, architecture, and software development.
  • Joint estimation and planning with customer
  • 7x24 production support on several mission-critical applications with a state-of-the-art tele-communication system 'tele-alert' for offshore paging.

Results and Accomplishments
Syntel has demonstrated our delivery capability, process rigor, ability to scale rapidly in a flexible manner in line with client requirements, and ability to manage large/complex transitions to this customer, which has yielded the highest customer satisfaction rating in both performance and leadership from this customer. Other results and key accomplishments include:

  • 15% reduction per year in production support costs
  • Significant system improvements and root cause fixes to achieve/exceed organization goals
  • Highest rating in production support and development of all vendor partners
  • Best-in-class economics with highest / best-suited volume discount structure
  • Global Account Team focusing on implementation of best practices, strategic value add initiatives

  • Customer has saved $48 million in costs compared to traditional IT consulting
  • Customer has saved more than $3 million in system costs by optimizing the systems and enabling corresponding reduction in infrastructure costs.
